The Sixteenth Century Society and Conference (SCSC) promotes scholarship on the early modern era. This international organization provides opportunities for scholars from all disciplines in early modern studies, including history, art history, religion, history of science, musicology, and literary and cultural studies, to come together to engage in intellectual discussion. Their annual conference is held in a different city each year and is attended by over 700 participants.

Sarah Jane Burt submitted a proposal early in 2013 for her paper, “Is a Sound Magician Really a Mighty God?: Magic as Spectacular Performance in Shakespeare,” which she researched and wrote as part of a graduate course entitled Shakespeare’s Earth Science at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). This is her second presentation at an international humanities conference. She also presented part of her Honors Program thesis at the International Sustainability and Humanities Conference at FGCU during her undergraduate study there.

Burt joined the CONRIC PR & Marketing team in August 2013 as a Content Writer after earning her Master of Arts in English at FGCU in May 2013.
