Denise Kitson Promoted to Director of Inpatient Clinical Services at Park Royal Behavioral Health Services

Mike Evans, CEO of Park Royal Hospital, is pleased to announce that Denise Kitson has been promoted to Director of Inpatient Clinical Services. She will be responsible for all inpatient clinical services including social work, counseling services, activities and group therapy and discharge planning.

Kitson previously showed strong leadership as Program Director of the Co-Occurring Treatment Program for Park Royal Behavioral Health Services.

Park Royal’s inpatient programs ensure every patient’s needs are addressed through a multidisciplinary team including board-certified psychiatrists, therapists, primary carephysicians, physical therapists, dietitians and around-the-clock clinical and nursing staff.

Kitson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Master of Social Work from New York University. She brings counseling, social work and managerial experience to Park Royal. For four years, she was a program director with Brandywine Counseling in Delaware, serving people with HIV and AIDS. She later directed that area’s first residential addiction treatment program for women with children.

For two years, Kitson was clinical manager of Sinai Hospital Addictions Recovery Program and then directed Horizon House, Inc., where she helped to open the first licensed program for co-occurring disorders in Delaware.

“I am excited to use my knowledge and experience as director of our very comprehensive and compassionate inpatient program to serve the Southwest Florida population,” Kitson said.

“We’re in our second year now at Park Royal, and we’ve been growing and adding services. I’m looking ahead as we continue to grow into our role as the area’s hospital of choice for behavioral health – as the provider of choice for inpatient and outpatient mental health services in Southwest Florida and the region.
