AAF-SWFL to celebrate local advertising with ADDY awards gala

January 30, 2020 CONRIC PR

The advertising industry’s largest awards competition shines a light on the best advertising creative of 2019 in Southwest Florida with a gala event on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Fort Myers Airport-Town Center.

The American Advertising Federation–Southwest Florida chapter will be hosting, MAD MEN & WOMEN – Legends of Advertising as it honors the region’s top agencies, advertisers, producers, and independent professionals and salutes the original “Mad Woman,” Southwest Florida’s own Myra Janco Daniels.

Conducted annually by the AAF, more than 40,000 entries are submitted each year nationwide. The local ad club phase is the first of the three-tier, national competition. Concurrently, across the country, local entrants vie to win ADDY Awards recognition as the very best in their markets.

At the second tier, local ADDY winners compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions. District ADDY winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national stage of the American Advertising Awards. Entry in your local ad club competition is the first step toward winning a national ADDY.

Daniels is a former advertising executive, having founded and run several ad agencies over the course of a lengthy and golden career. She was the first woman to hold the title of Executive Vice President at Chicago’s oldest ad agency, Roche, Rickerd, Henri, Hurst, Inc., in 1965. That’s where she met her future husband, and the inspiration for television’s Don Draper of Mad Men fame, Draper Daniels. She has won countless awards and honors, built the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts, founded the Latchkey League, and currently chairs community projects, helps organizations improve, and speaks at events all over the world.

Daniels will be honored at the gala with the inaugural “Myra Janco Daniels, Best of Show Award.”

Entering the ADDYs supports the advertising industry. AAF uses the proceeds to enhance advertising through programs such as public service, internships, advocacy groups, advertising education and consumer awareness.

Tickets for the gala are $95. Students are $50. Go to SWFLADDYS.com to purchase tickets. Table sponsorships are also available. For sponsorship info, please contact Stephen Blancett at 239-404-4804 or email SGB@Pulse.Tech
