Literacy Council Gulf Coast is pleased to announce Michelle Hudson and Sasha Williams have joined its Board of Directors. The not-for-profit organization is committed to improving the English and reading skills of adults and children throughout Lee County and North Collier County.

elle Hudson is the Digital Strategist at CONRIC PR & Marketing | Publishing. She has more than 20 years in the media business, including 15 years at The News-Press. She served in many positions at the paper, most recently as its Digital Editor. Hudson also works with Alliance Financial Group, assisting business owners and individuals with life and disability insurance as well as financial planning.
“Working so intensively with written communication, it would be easy to take it for granted,” she said. “It’s important to me to help others achieve greater confidence in reading.”
Sasha Williams is the Risk Manager for Enterprise Holdings in Southwest Florida, which includes the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo, and National Car Rental brands. She has been with the company for almost 18 years, and is currently in the process of obtaining her certification in Risk Management from The Institutes.
She said, “As an avid reader, the work of Literacy Council Gulf Coast is very meaningful to me. I’d like everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy a good book.”
Literacy Council Gulf Coast has its headquarters in Bonita Springs, and trains volunteers to help students acquire or improve their English skills.

A 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, LCGC was created in 2011 by a merger between Literacy Volunteers of Lee County and the Literacy Council of Bonita Springs and has been serving the community since 1989. Headquartered at 26820 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs, FL 34135, LCGC serves adults and children throughout Lee County and North Collier County, including Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres and North Naples. It has more than 800 volunteer tutors, and is always looking for more to train. LCGC serves adults who want to read and write better English, adults who want to learn English to improve their quality of life, and parents and their pre-school children eager to insure that the children begin school ready to learn. More than 3,400 students from 40 countries studied English with LCGC in 2012-2013. Funding comes from individual and community contributions, private foundation grants and United Way of Lee County.
