The Collier’s Reserve Country Club isn’t a community in name only. The day after Hurricane Irma, Collier’s Reserve employees from all departments worked together to clear debris at the Country Club, and community residents responded in kind. They raised $78,000 to benefit community employees who suffered devastating losses in the wake of the storm. Time is running out for Lee County business and rental property owners to take advantage of a discounted tax bill. Feb. 28 is the last day to receive a 1 percent discount on 2017 tangible property taxes. Businesses are assessed taxes each year on the furniture, fixtures, signs, supplies, tools and equipment they use, regardless of whether they own, lease or rent the property, under Florida state law.
