2014 Imagine Gala Theme Highlights the Significance of Southwest Florida’s Waterways

March 19, 2014 CONRIC PR

“Underwater Wonders” is a night to play while learning about the future of our rivers, estuaries and coastal areas

Splash down into the mysterious and enchanting playground of “Underwater Wonders” at the Imagine Gala on Saturday, March 29 and you’ll find yourself in the depths of an important conservation conversation. The theme of the The Imaginarium Science Center’s premiere gala fundraising event reflects the urgent need for education and swift policy action related to the welfare of Southwest Florida’s waterways.

Guests will enjoy live music, fabulous food and drinks and auction packages, all while exploring the incredible world of Florida’s waterways with brand new exhibits to be unveiled at the event. Eric Raddatz, founder of the Naples and Fort Myers Film Festivals, will entertain the crowd as emcee and auctioneer. Among the exciting auction lots will be  collaborative art pieces featuring the heads and faces of local community leaders enhanced by children’s depictions of their bodies with a special waterways theme.

Mayor Penguin Henderson-lrOne subject of a collaborative art piece will be Mayor Randall P. Henderson, Jr. He appreciates the playful approach to raising awareness of the issues we face. “Fort Myers and Southwest Florida waterways represent the most precious of our attractive features for quality of life and beauty,” the mayor said. “A massive effort to protect and promote pristine waters is critical for our future.”

At The Imagine Gala: Underwater Wonders, guests will be able to explore new exhibits focusing on the waterways theme. Watershed Wonders: Caloosahatchee Connections is an interactive exhibit that illustrates the Florida watershed from Lake Okeechobee to the Gulf of Mexico through the Caloosahatchee. Also new is The Water Table exhibit, a hydroponic display illustrating the interplay between plants and fish in the ecosystem.

The gala takes place on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 7 p.m. at The Imaginarium Science Center, located at 2000 Cranford Avenue in Fort Myers, and calls for cocktail attire. Advance tickets are $75 and must be purchased prior to March 22, 2014. Tickets purchased after March 22, 2014 will be $100.
