Salamone Hired as Chief Nursing Officer at Park Royal Hospital

Mike Evans, CEO of Park Royal Hospital, is pleased to announce that Darlene Salamone, MSN, RN, has been hired as Chief Nursing Officer.

Salamone is an accomplished leader with experience as a department head, risk manager, infection control nurse and staff development director. She began working for Park Royal Behavioral Health Services as interim Chief Nursing Officer in November and recently was hired permanently for that position. She has been a director of nursing and assistant director of nursing at senior facilities in Naples and New York.

Darlene SalamoneHer clinical experience encompasses acute medical and psychiatric settings. She was a staff nurse at Union Hospital in Bronx, N.Y. As an emergency room nurse at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, Salamone trained and became a registered nurse working with clinical and psychiatric emergencies. She has also been a staff and charge nurse in pediatrics, psychiatric rehabilitation and nursing homes. As a renal transplant staff nurse at Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y., Salamone worked pre- and post-operatively with both donors and recipients. She has also been a clinical and classroom nursing instructor and developed teaching modules for high acuity patients, completing a grant from the New York Department of Health.

Salamone holds a bachelor of science in nursing from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y., and a master of science in nursing with specialization in leadership and management from Walden University in Minneapolis, from which she graduated with a 4.0 average.

She is a member of the Florida State Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society in nursing and the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination.
