New luxury senior living community in Punta Gorda Isles breaks ground

August 19, 2021 CONRIC PR

Senior living with passion, energy and joy is coming to Punta Gorda. The Meridian at Punta Gorda Isles (“The Meridian”), located at 2001 Aqui Esta Drive, broke ground and is slated to open its doors in early 2023. The 127-unit, 116,000-square-foot senior living community spread over three floors is managed by national seniors housing operator Meridian Senior Living, and co-developed by Meridian and national developer Madison Marquette.

The community was designed for great living with a coastal feel and a vast array of contemporary amenities befitting its future residents’ high standards for active living. Designed by national design and engineering firm CASCO and partnering with Tampa general contractor Diaz Fritz Group on construction, The Meridian at Punta Gorda Isles will impress at every turn. From the moment you walk into the beautiful lobby to the sparkling water views from the outdoor patio, you will forget what you think senior living looks like. The Meridian captures what a new generation of older adults wants from their retirement, lifestyle and care.

This is a community for those who love the good life. The selection of amenities won’t disappoint. Come home to the elegant and welcoming dining room; a bistro and bar; a coffee bar and lounge; a billiards room; a theater; a salon with massage room; a card and gaming room; a multipurpose activity room; a fitness center; a creative studio; a private dining room for more intimate gatherings; a library and computer lab; and a number of common area lounges to meet with friends.

“Punta Gorda Isles is a special community that will truly benefit from The Meridian at Punta Gorda Isles,” said Dan Castleberry, Chief Investment Officer with Meridian Senior Living. “For too long, residents of Punta Gorda including the Isles down to Burnt Store Marina have had to watch their loved ones, friends and neighbors move away when the time came for senior living needs due to lack of availability. We’ve spent years collaborating with our partners, architects, engineers, zoning and building officials, community leaders and local residents to design what is sure to become the premier seniors housing community in the area. Meridian could not be more excited to start construction, and we hope to become a resource and partner to the Punta Gorda community for years to come.”

The Meridian will feature studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with kitchenettes, solid surface countertops, vinyl wood plank flooring and carpet, spacious bathrooms with seamless entry showers, and safety features like grab bars and a nurse call system. In the memory care neighborhood, choose from private or companion suites for your loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, or other type of dementia.

As beautiful as the apartments are, the amenity spaces are sure to draw residents out of their apartments and into community life. Daily programming will be led by the Life Enrichment Coordinator whose monthly activity calendar will be inspired by resident preferences and well-balanced options to cater to overall mental, physical, and social health.

The memory care neighborhood not only offers enhanced security and attentive care, but a considerable space dedicated to hosting Meridian Senior Living’s distinctive MONTESSORI MOMENTS IN TIME™ memory care program.

The Meridian joins its sister community Atrium at Liberty Park in Cape Coral as the two Southwest Florida communities managed by Meridian Senior Living. Meridian manages more than 70 communities in the U.S with 14 currently located in Florida. Meridian’s principals have more than 100 years combined experience in the senior care industry.
