January 10, 2022 CONRIC PR

Did you make stepping up your digital marketing a part of your New Year’s resolution? Before you dive into the world of digital marketing, check out these 5 digital marketing trends that will be all over your feeds in 2022.

TikToks and Reels aren’t going anywhere

Short videos continue to make their move as a powerhouse for content distribution in the digital space. TikTok has quickly become one of the top social media platforms and Instagram has even updated its space to be more video-friendly with Reels and Instagram Video. Hate to break it to you fellow marketers, they aren’t going anywhere! Smart brands will adapt and figure out how to use this new surge in unpolished video content to their advantage. Some things to remember when creating video content for your social pages:

  • Not every post/message requires a fully produced and polished video.
  • Keep your content short, sweet and to the point!
  • Search popular and fun sounds in TikTok and Reels – make sure the song fits the video message
  • Add captions and alt text
  • When possible include a call to action in your video, but don’t force it.
  • HAVE FUN!

Listen up! Branded audio content continues to grow

According to statista.com, “Podcasting is an increasingly popular pastime in the U.S. and there were an estimated 120 million podcast listeners in the country in 2021.” What does this mean for marketers? Well in a nutshell – video audience retention has gone down while audio audience retention has gone up. People are listening to audio podcasts while working, driving or doing other tasks in their day-to-day life. Podcasts are great tools for your brand’s marketing because it gives you an opportunity to hypertarget your audience and speak to them at length. Creating an informative and educational podcast for your listeners gives your brand’s message more value and can be a good return on investment. Plus podcasts are much cheaper to produce and distribute than a video series on YouTube. Interested in setting up your own podcast? Under the influence

One of the biggest trends from 2021 was creating authentic content. Influencer marketing allows for brands to get their products and services in front of their target audience without appearing overly salesy. Influencer marketing isn’t just limited to celebrities anymore. In 2022 you can expect to see micro-influencers promoting products in their areas. Micro-influencers are smaller influencers who have around 10,000 followers. Having a lower follower count allows these micro-influencers to engage more with their core followers.

Many businesses think they can’t afford an influencer, but the average micro-influencer post costs $80. The key to creating a successful influencer marketing campaign is to set a budget and clear strategy.

Let’s Collab!

Instagram now allows brands and creators to collaborate on posts by sending an invitation to other accounts. This new feature will showcase a single post on both collaborator’s feeds helping increase impressions and visibility. These posts will combine likes, comments and number of shares to increase engagement between accounts and help build audiences.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is not only one of the first things a new business (or any business) should consider when creating their website, it’s also one of the best and most cost-effective ways to boost organic website traffic, build your brand and drive leads. By optimizing a website and your website content to be search engine friendly, you’re building authority with Google and establishing your website and your business as an authoritative source of information. This is one of the things Google looks for when deciding what to feature above the fold on the first page of the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). This is where you want your content to be because users rarely scroll past the top half of the first page of search results. Having your content in this position not only increases the chance of it being seen, it also helps your content get more clicks.

It typically takes about three months to see results because it takes time for the content and optimization efforts to sync up with Google. When done correctly, SEO is one of the less cost-effective methods to grow and elevate your brand. But, it can take some work. When all of the proper SEO elements are in place and Google sees your website as a powerhouse of information and content, this gives your website a leg up on the competition and makes your content more likely to appear on the first page of the SERP for the query you optimized the blog post for. For example, if you’re a coffee roaster and you’d like to promote your brand and you have a new dark roast coffee from South America you’d like to feature, you may want to create a blog post that’s optimized for the best possible keyword you think people are searching for. By researching the proper keyword, you’ll find what users are searching for the most and use this information to help guide them (and Google) to your blog post. A lot of elements go into optimizing your website for SEO, and it starts with creating informative, well-written content, choosing the right keywords and optimizing for Google.
