The Best Times to Post on Social Media

October 5, 2020 CONRIC PR

Are you looking for ways to optimize your social media marketing strategy? Want to know the best times to post to maximize follower engagement? There are a lot of different factors that come into play when it comes to determining the best time to post on social media such as what kind of business you have, who your audience is and what platform you are sharing on. We’ve put together a list of tips and tricks that can help increase your social media engagement!

Best Time by Audience

If you’re a B2B business whose market is mostly other businesses, posting during traditional work hours while employees of those companies are on their business accounts would be ideal.

For B2C businesses targeting individual consumers, you’ll want to post and share on social media at a few key times throughout the day: before work, lunchtime, and while your audience is relaxing at home in the evening.

Best Times to Post by Platform

Every social media platform has its own peak time for heightened engagement due to the varying audiences that use that particular platform. For example, LinkedIn is a platform for finding jobs, making business connections and posting business related content. Because of this, peak times for posting on LinkedIn are during business hours.

However, Facebook and Instagram are more social platforms, so you’ll find highest activity levels in the morning when people are commuting to work, during lunch hours or later in the evening when your audience is home from work.

As a business, in order to maximize your engagement, it’s important to know when each social media platform hits its peak time.

Facebook

Best Days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Worst Day: Tuesday
Best Times: 1-4 p.m.

For maximum exposure, the best time to post on your Facebook business page during the week is between 1- 4 p.m. That’s because many Facebook users browse on their desktops and check it during downtime at work. The single best time to post on Facebook is Sunday at 3 p.m.

Instagram

Best Days: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Worst Day: Sunday
Best Times: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

If you’re marketing or selling on Instagram, the best time to post is during lunch and in the evening after work. Most instagrammers login via mobile, so they tend to avoid browsing during work hours.

Twitter

Best Days: Monday-Friday
Worst Days: Saturday and Sunday
Best times: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The best time to post on Twitter for your business is during the lunch hours of 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Scheduling your posts just before lunch is a great option too! Workdays tend to get the highest level of engagement on Twitter and by posting around lunch Monday-Friday can help you increase your social media engagement.

Linkedin

Best Days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Worst Days: Saturday and Sunday
Best Times: 10-11 a.m.

The best time to post on LinkedIn is between 10-11 a.m. Linkedin is a professional social network used by recruiters, sales people and business people which is why it’s often used during work hours. The weekends and after work hours tend to be the worst times to post on LinkedIn for engagement and visibility.

YouTube

Best Days: Thursday and Friday
Most Views: Saturday and Sunday
Best Times: 9-11 a.m. and 12-4 p.m.

The best time to post on YouTube tends to be early afternoon between 12-4 p.m. That’s due to most viewers watching videos in the evenings, so you’ll want to have your videos indexed by then. Most viewers watch YouTube on the weekend so feel free to post on Saturdays and Sundays in the morning around 9-11 a.m.
