Mel Thomas is CONRIC’s Digital Marketing Coordinator. She supports the marketing team in the development and implementation of digital, marketing and public relations strategies and communications. She builds client relationships, writes press releases, and administers social media accounts and blogs. Additionally, Mel manages distribution of press releases and promotional materials on media websites and across social media platforms, creates e-newsletters and produces analytical reports for clients.
Prior to joining the CONRIC team in 2014, Mel spent four years as Director of Women’s Basketball Operations for Florida Gulf Coast University. She received her MBA from FGCU in marketing in 2012.
A Cincinnati native, Mel played basketball at the University of Connecticut and was named co-captain in both her junior and senior seasons. She succeeded at the highest levels both academically and athletically. She was a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and is a graduate of UConn’s School of Business. In her senior year, she played a key role in UConn winning the BIG EAST regular season and tournament championships, and in their run to the NCAA Final Four. After her playing days at Connecticut were over, Mel authored a book titled ‘Heart of a Husky.’ Her memoir is a depiction of her experiences as she worked towards winning a National Championship. Mel went on to play professional basketball, and was an integral member of the US Pan American Games team in 2007 when the U.S. won the gold medal for the first time since 1987.
