Boy Agnew Potanovic to host inaugural employment law seminar

Boy Agnew Potanovic, a boutique employment law firm, will hosts its inaugural seminar and networking event, 2020 Proactive Workplace Solutions:  An HR & Employment Law Seminar, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on January 24, 2019 at The Club at Grandézza.  Created for Southwest Florida employers, the all-day seminar will feature sessions focused on proactive and cost-effective solutions to workplace legal issues.  Topics include legislative and case law update, problem-solving wage/hour issues, advice on anti-harassment and drug-free workplace policies, and tips to avoid common mistakes that lead to employee lawsuits.

Registration is $75 for general admission; $50 for Boy Agnew Potanovic clients. Registration includes a continental breakfast, plated lunch, and cocktail hour. John Agnew and Suzanne Boy will provide an update on important employment legislation and case law from 2019 and on the horizon for 2020. They will also address agency activity from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, and National Labor Relations Board, and discuss several important bills pending in the 2020 Florida Legislative Session.

 

Seven HR Misconceptions Debunked

John Potanovic will highlight seven common HR law misconceptions, often repeated and perhaps accepted as true, to set the record straight. His presentation will explore issues from the ADA, FMLA, NLRA, FLSA and other substantive areas of interest to anyone who deals with HR law issues in the workplace.

 

A Fresh Look at Essential HR Practices and Policies

Vicki Sproat and Suzanne Boy will identify key policy updates for every workplace, while discussing how HR policies and practices impact workplace investigations. Topics will include anti-harassment policies in a #metoo era; reasonable accommodations and interactive process procedures; drug free workplace policies in light of legalized marijuana; hurricane/disaster procedures; bullying prevention; and more.

Employment Law Tales from the Other Side

Cora Molloy and Angeli Murthy, both former defense attorneys who now represent plaintiffs at Morgan & Morgan, will use their unique perspectives to address real-world scenarios that resulted in costly employment litigation, and offer up their top tips on how employers can avoid similar issues.
