Last Day to Drop Toys is December 20th!

Lee County, FL – December 18, 2013 – The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties announces by the close of business Friday, December 20, Salvation Army programs will have served the Christmas needs of more than 3,000 families with 10,000 children in Lee, Hendry and Glades counties.

While the community has shown a great deal of support, The Salvation Army does not have the toys it needs to serve those who registered for Christmas assistance. The organization is issuing an urgent plea for donations of toys today and tomorrow to meet the needs. “We need 4,000 toys in order to bring Christmas to the many families who have come to us for help this year,” explained Area Commander Major Tom Louden, “We have seen an increase in families coming to us for late, emergency registration for the Christmas assistance program.”

Toys can be dropped off at any Salvation Army location, preferably directly to the Christmas Cheer Warehouse at 3048 Metro Parkway in Fort Myers.

“We at The Salvation Army believe, especially in this time of great need in Southwest Florida, that it is so important to share the joy of Christmas with children whose families are in need. We are counting on the blessings of God and of those around us to assist with this long-standing and worthwhile project,” Louden continued.

Please don’t let families be disappointed this Christmas. Help The Salvation Army share the bounty of your kindness and generosity with these children. For more information, contact The Salvation Army at (239) 278-1551.
