The Walmart Foundation and TracFone have joined Dress for Success SW Florida to present free retail training to women who are unemployed or underemployed. Those in need of a job this season are invited to attend a free Going Places Network (GPN) orientation event from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the former Gap location at the Bell Tower Shops.
Attendees will learn about the upcoming Retail Education Advancing Leadership (REAL) training, a free 10-week program that helps women gain professional skills, accelerate their job search and build confidence through weekly training sessions, one-on-one career coaching and networking in a supportive environment. Registration for the orientation is required at bit.ly/DFSGPN.
The GPN REAL initiative focuses on the retail industry as a viable sector-specific employment option for both unemployed and underemployed women to succeed in the workplace and to find upward mobility in their careers. This REAL retail training includes education in communication styles and problem solving, style and personal branding, phone interview techniques, transferrable skills, and leadership and management techniques.
Dress for Success SW Florida is one of about a dozen affiliates of Dress for Success Worldwide to have received a portion of a $2.5-million grant from the Walmart Foundation intended to increase the economic mobility of entry level workers to advance their careers.
