November 27, 2013 CONRIC PR

Three great opportunities to help children in our community

The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties is pleased to announce their participation in the Everblades Bear Toss on December 7, 2013. On Friday December 6th, Toys for Tots will be present outside by the box office with bins to collect new unwrapped toys for children in Lee, Hendry and Glades counties.  Anyone who brings a toy will be offered a discount on their tickets.  The Salvation Army is also offering six tickets to whomever would like to volunteer that day for the that particular game.

On Saturday, December 7th is the annual IBERIABANK Teddy Bear Toss. Doors open at 6 pm.  As soon as the Everblades first goal is scored, fans will toss teddy bears onto the ice! Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army are among several organizations who will receive the teddy bears for holiday assistance programs.  Toys will benefit those who have registered for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Cheer program. It is estimated approximately 9,000 children will be served this Christmas through The Salvation Army’s Christmas Cheer program.

Lee County residents wanting to help can also place a new, unwrapped toy by their mailbox to be picked up by their local mail carrier on Saturday, December 7th.  The local Toys for Tots representatives will pick up the toys from the USPS, and those toys will be distributed to children in this community through The Salvation Army’s Christmas Cheer program.

Residents in surrounding counties can contact Toys for Tots at ToysforTots.org or contact their local Salvation Army office.
