New outpatient treatment center to open late 2014

“Park Royal Behavioral Health Services is proud to announce the groundbreaking of a new outpatient suite on the campus of Park Royal Hospital,” Chief Executive Officer Michael Evans announced today. “The threefold project will include the outpatient treatment area, a patient recreational area and an office and assessment suite.”  The general contractor is PRH Expansion 0018DeAngelis Diamond Healthcare Group, a local builder.

The new construction project represents an investment by Park Royal of approximately $1.8 million.  The company’s commitment to Southwest Florida began when Acadia Healthcare acquired the 76-bed hospital on Bass Road in south Fort Myers in November 2012.  The hospital expanded to 103 licensed beds and added acute substance abuse treatment services seven months later in June 2013.

Park Royal opened its first outpatient center on Bass Road at Commerce Center Court late last year.  Several groups of individuals meet at this location for the intensive outpatient program. The addition to the main hospital building on Park Royal Drive will ensure that several more groups of patients can be treated by some of the area’s most qualified psychiatrists and clinicians in mental health and substance abuse treatment services in an outpatient setting providing group therapy, individual therapy and medication management.  Evans states that “Park Royal is expanding its medical staff of psychiatrists and mental health professionals to meet this growing need for services.”

“Our IOP [intensive outpatient program] provides a warm atmosphere that welcomes participants who want to work towards overcoming difficulties they have in their lives while maintaining their social, educational, employment and family responsibilities,” said Park Royal’s Director of Outpatient Services Leanne Marston.  “We offer group psychotherapy and medication management in a structured, supportive treatment environment so that our participants can quickly gain skills that will help them throughout their everyday lives.”

The expansion of a recreational center will allow hospital patients to safely enjoy the green and vibrant atmosphere on the campus of Park Royal Hospital.  This will give patients the opportunity to supplement their treatment plans with experiential and recreational therapies offered on the Park Royal campus.

The third addition is the construction of additional offices for people seeking help to meet with a professional mental health counselor in a confidential and private setting to discuss the treatment options that best meet their needs, whether inpatient or outpatient services.  “Many people who reach out to Park Royal for help would benefit from community resources and other treatment modalities as alternatives to inpatient care,” states Evans.

Park Royal Hospital, accredited by The Joint Commission, is a 103-bed hospital dedicated solely to serving the mental health and substance abuse treatment needs of our community by providing both inpatient and outpatient services, including intensive outpatient day treatment programs.  Park Royal is a participating provider for most insurance plans including Medicare and managed Medicaid plans, and is open for inquiries 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
