Energy Harness Corporation’s Active Airflow UV-C technology has been proven in a series of laboratory tests to kill 99.998% of the virus that causes COVID-19 and variants, in just one second of exposure. Energy Harness’ Active Airflow UV-C Fixture works by circulating indoor air and applying a large dose of high-energy UV-C light as the air passes through the device. The UV-C light sanitizes the air, releasing clean air back into the room.
Testing involved exposing SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) to the UV-C LED modules contained in the Active Airflow Fixture for one, three, and six-second intervals. In each case, researchers found that 99.998% of the virus nuclei had been inactivated – the maximum sensitivity that the testing mechanism can measure.
“To know that our technology maxxed out the testing equipment, that’s a pretty exciting moment. It says that we’ve got the ultimate COVID killer on our hands,” said Lehrer.
The lab results are particularly significant because the device was tested on live SARS-CoV-2 at KR Biotech in Korea, a university affiliated research center focused on developing preventive vaccines and treatments for infectious diseases. Due to safety concerns, most disinfectant products tested in the U.S. use surrogate pathogens, harmless microorganisms with similar properties.
“Most of the third-party test results we’ve seen for other products on the market show efficacy between 90% and 99% and a rare few have been closer to 99.5%. And almost every one of those were only tested against virus surrogates,” explained Michael Fischer, president of Energy Harness Corporation. “With 99.998% effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2, our Active Airflow UV-C technology definitely outshines the competition.”
In addition to its efficacy against coronavirus, Active Airflow UV-C technology is proven to be more than 99.9% effective against tuberculosis, pneumonia, influenza, and other deadly pathogens.
