Pavese Law Firm welcomes summer law clerks

Pavese Law is pleased to welcome two summer law clerks, Freddy Maldonado from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, and Kelsey Grant from Ave Maria School of Law, as their vision for the future requires inspiring young professionals and helping them discover their strengths and unlock their potential. Maldonado and Grant will work closely with attorneys to prepare legal memoranda, motions, depositions, research, drafting pleadings and various legal documents to gain hands-on experience.

“Our attorneys will ensure the internships create unique learning opportunities and provide experience that will deepen the students’ level of understanding of the law and enhance their capacity to practice in the future,” said Chene Thompson, Co-Managing Partner. “Experience is invaluable, and internships expose our summer clerks to what lawyers really do and how they handle real world issues. It’s also an excellent opportunity to develop a professional network.”

Kelsey J. Grant will assist with litigation during her summer internship. She will enter her third year at Ave Maria School of Law in Naples this fall. Grant is the President of the Moot Court Board and loves competing on behalf of her school. Her most recent endeavor was the Robert Orseck Competition during the Florida Bar Annual Convention, where she and a classmate won Best Brief and advanced to the semifinal round. Previously, she was a law clerk for the Thomas More Society. She completed her B.A. in International Studies at the University of Chicago in 2017. Originally from the Northwest Side of Chicago, she is thrilled to now call Southwest Florida home.

Freddy Maldonado graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Minor in Real Estate from the University of Florida in May 2019. Maldonado started his law school career at Florida International University College of Law that fall, where he was awarded the Spak Scholarship for superior academic performance. Maldonado transferred to the University of Florida Levin College of Law for Spring 2021, where he expects to earn his Juris Doctor in December 2022 and subsequently sit for the February 2023 Florida Bar. Throughout his law school career, Maldonado has worked at multiple law firms, and externed at the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings for Judge Cathy M. Sellers before joining Pavese as a summer associate. He has also been part of various organizations including the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law (RPPTL) Section of the Florida Bar.

The more exposure law students gain to real legal work, the better they will be at practicing law. Experience allows law students to explore various areas of study to determine where they can best serve their clients and start building networks that will last throughout their career.
