FORT MYERS, Fla. (Jan. 3, 2023) – The Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association (SRMA) is encouraging manufacturers to attend Florida Manufacturing Days, as the SRMA, in conjunction with FloridaMakes, will represent members in Tallahassee in January. SRMA will present a legislative agenda and request regional financial support covering five counties in SWFL, along with Manatee and Sarasota Counties.
Every day we enjoy products that we often don’t realize are made right here, in SW Florida. The SRMA works to raise awareness and appreciation for the 1,176 companies and 13,500 Southwest Floridians who work in manufacturing and is asking fellow manufacturers to join them in representing the industry to legislators on Jan. 24 and 25.
“I went to Tallahassee in November of 2021, touting the importance of manufacturing to the state and our region’s economy. I learned that legislators listen more closely and prefer to hear directly from manufacturers themselves over a representative of an association, such as myself, which is why we need you there!” said Rob Harris, Executive Director of SRMA. “No matter how big or small your company, this is a great opportunity to meet with legislators and share your stories. I am happy to assist and answer any questions manufacturers may have that are interested in joining us in Tallahassee.”
SRMA offers insight and best practices on how to conduct a meeting with a legislative office, including a review of the industry’s priorities and how to advocate to a policy maker or elected official about issues that are most important to manufacturers. Florida Manufacturing & Supply Chain Advocacy Council is a coalition of manufacturing champions across the state of Florida, working to leverage local relationships and execute grassroots campaigns to further a legislative climate that is responsive to the manufacturing industry. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Financial commitment and involvement in Advocacy Days supports an industry that has a great impact on Florida’s economy. Every dollar in manufactured goods produces $2.68 across all other sectors. With an extensive agenda and limited staff, the council relies on sponsors and participants to lead public witness and build relationships between the industry and legislative offices. SRMA offers a national network of resources and hosts monthly events and educational opportunities for members and (non-member) manufacturing professionals. For more information about the SRMA, please visit www.SRMA.net, or email exec@srma.net.
