Support the work of Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled Inc. (FDD)

February 9, 2018 CONRIC PR

Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled, Inc. (FDD) invites the community to support its efforts to enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities by donating to the organization through Give Where You Live Collier on Feb. 21 and 22.

Give Where You Live Collier is a countywide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Collier County through online giving. The Community Foundation of Collier County and the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation are partnering to present Give Where You Live Collier with 38 participating nonprofit organizations in 2018. Donations are accepted through GiveWhereYouLiveCollier.org.

As a participating nonprofit, FDD will benefit from Give Where You Live Collier in many ways.

“The donations we receive through Give Where You Live Collier help us do more to support the community and ensure individuals with disabilities are active and engaged through vocational training, education, recreation and social opportunities,” Executive Director Karen Govern said. “Our goal is to raise over $5,000 this year, which is a part of our annual operating budget. We also want to earn our share of the $500,000 matching fund.”

$500,000 Matching Fund

Give Where You Live Collier features a $400,000 matching fund from the Richard M Schulze Family Foundation and a $100,000 match from the Community Foundation of Collier County. Every nonprofit that receives a donation from noon on Feb. 21 to 11:59 a.m. on Feb. 22 will receive a proportionate share of the matching fund, increasing the value of every dollar donated. The first $2,500 raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar through the Community Foundation. Beyond that, if FDD receives 10 percent, for instance, of the total donations made through Give Where You Live Collier, FDD also receives 10 percent of the $400,000 matching fund from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation.

“Give Where You Live Collier makes it easy to participate so that everyone has the chance to make a difference in our community, whether you call Collier County home seasonally or year-round.”
said Eileen Connolly-Keesler, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Collier County. “We are proud to live in an incredibly philanthropic community that believes strongly in giving back and is passionate about making a difference. We applaud the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation for again sponsoring this wonderful event that benefits so many.”
