Marketing Do’s and Don’ts from the CFO (This is not SNL)

August 24, 2020 CONRIC PR

The CFO, or Chief Financial Officer, is the person in charge of the money. They tell you where you can and can’t spend for the fiscal year, keep your company “in the green” and out of bankruptcy court. Given that “chief” is in the title, one must assume that this person knows what they are talking about and you should probably listen to them when it comes to financial advice. Our own CFO, Rick Williams, has been with CONRIC PR & Marketing since its inception in 2007. He has been an integral part of the company’s growth and success in Southwest Florida. Rick not only knows numbers, but he also knows MARKETING! Here are some tips that you need to know when it comes to creating your marketing strategy:

  • Never promise a client something you know you can’t deliver on. A quick “No” is always better than conditional “Yes” (unless you’re Mike Ross, Esq.)
  • Know your numbers. When interviewing a prospect/client, try to stay away from a bidding war. Weigh out normal pricing for a particular project against whatever additional time/work you think you’ll need to expend to deliver that project. Communicate any concerns to your supervisor before getting back to the prospect/client.
  • Build your agency’s brand value everyday. Remember every pen that has ever been made does exactly the same thing. They apply ink to paper. And yet, pens cost anywhere from $1.00 to $1,000.00. Why? It’s all about the customer’s perceived value of what they are buying as well as their ultimate satisfaction. You have the opportunity to build your value everyday in your relationships with clients and co-workers.

You know you want Rick in your corner when it comes to effectively spending money for your business. The whole team at CONRIC can help you create a powerful brand message and marketing strategy while working with your budget.
