Dress for Success “Pay It Forward” with Their Community Action Project (CAP) Benefiting After the Rain

May 1, 2013 CONRIC PR

Barbara Dell, Executive Director of Dress for Success SW Florida, is proud to announce the celebration of its “CAP”, Community Action Project, for the betterment of After the Rain of SW Florida Inc., another non-profit organization, on May 16, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza located at the Bell Tower Shops in Fort Myers.

After the Rain of Southwest Florida, Inc. is one of the few halfway houses in Fort Myers that assist women in recovery from addiction, homelessness, and domestic violence. The program is designed to provide women with an intimate, supportive, home-like environment while maintaining structure and discipline as they journey through recovery to become self-sufficient and independent. Unique in their approach, the director and an assistant live onsite, availing the women a combined total of nearly 30 years of recovery experience.

During the past year the women from ‘After the Rain’ have received many Dress for Success benefits as a pay-it-forward project by providing them with a series of workshops, get-togethers and clothing.  The Community Action Project (CAP) funded by Walmart has been helping to gather items for the After the Rain home.  “We couldn’t be more appreciative of the support Walmart has continually provided,” says Dell. “Thanks to their generosity, we were able to fulfill the wish list After the Rain provided,” adds Dell.

On May 16, 2013 at 6 pm there will be a special event held honoring  ‘After the Rain’ women at the Crowne Plaza combined with a Dress for Success Professional Women’s Group (PWG) for a graduation ceremony and celebration. Walmart Executives will also be in attendance for check presentations made to Dress for Success SW Florida and After the Rain of SW Florida Inc.

Shelley Allman, Market Manager for Fort Myers Walmart says, “We are excited to be a part of Dress for Success SW Florida. We believe in their mission to help women get back on their feet and acquire the skills needed in today’s economy to obtain employment.”
