Organization recognized for hard work and dedication to public relations profession
The Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) honored the FPRA Southwest Florida Chapter (FPRA SWFL) with several awards at the 78th Annual FPRA State Conference at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla. on Aug. 7-10. Members from 15 chapters across the state of Florida and public relations professionals from around the world enjoyed four days of professional development, networking and recognition from their peers.
FPRA State President, Roger Pynn, APR, CPRC, presented members of FPRA SWFL with 10 awards. One of the awards given was the highest honor, the Dick Pope All Florida Golden Image Award, which went to the Lee County Port Authority (LCPA) for its Southwest Florida International Airport TSA PreCheck campaign. The LCPA was given the award for the best public relations program in the state for the 2015-16 fiscal year.
The 2016 Golden Image competition received more than 135 entries from around the state. The competition is judged by past state presidents of the Florida Public Relations Association and members of the FPRA Counselors’ Network.
FPRA recognizes local chapter excellence through its annual President’s Awards in 10 categories: Accreditation and Certification, Communications, Community Service, Financial Management, Image Awards, Leadership Development, Membership Development, Professional Development, Special Event Planning and Student Development, based on accomplishments throughout the year.
“We have an incredible chapter here in Southwest Florida that’s leading the way in public relations,” said Trish Robertson, FPRA Southwest Florida Chapter president. “To be honored with these awards from the state association shows what an outstanding group of people we have committed to this profession.”
FPRA SWFL was also the winner of the 2016 Chapter Challenge, which is given to the chapter that promotes annual conference and Golden Image Award the most through various communication outlets throughout the year, hosts a Local Image Award ceremony and participates in a membership renewal program.
In addition, FGCU Chapter President, Breanna Rigg, was awarded the Bob Davis Florida Public Relations Education Foundation Scholarship, for professional development studying to enter the public relations profession. Rigg was the only student in the state to receive the scholarship.
