March 24, 2014 CONRIC PR

Discounted tickets for the Imaginairum’s premier fundraiser are now available through March 26!

The opportunity to purchase advance tickets to the 2014 Imagine Gala, “Underwater Wonders,” has been extended through March 26. Although many tickets were sold by the original March 22 deadline, the community is encouraged to continue to take advantage of the discounted rate and enjoy a fun-filled, enchanting evening in support of The Imaginarium, Southwest Florida’s only science center and aquarium.

At 7 p.m. on March 29, The Imaginarium Science Center, located at 2000 Cranford Avenue in Fort Myers, will be transformed into a mysterious playground celebrating the unique treasures that are Southwest Florida’s waterways. Tickets are $75 until the end of the day March 26, 2014. After that, and at the door, tickets will be $100. The event calls for cocktail attire. Attendees will be delighted that many of their local leaders will be transformed into whimsical collaborative art pieces inspired by the waterways theme. Business owners, community organization leaders and government officials have had their heads expertly drawn by professional artist Rebecca Kundysek. Local children then took the helm and let their imaginations run wild. Mayor Randy Henderson has been rendered a stingray, for instance. Norman Love is now a dolphin. Alliance for the Arts Executive Director Lydia Black is loving life as a sea turtle. Guests will be able to vote on their favorite pieces throughout the evening for a donation, and will be entered to win fabulous prizes. The money from each vote will go toward the Camp i-Sci Summer Science Camp Scholarship Fund. Each art piece will go home with the treasured leader.

In addition to all the festivities, the Imagine Gala will also present an opportunity to explore brand new exhibits focusing on a waterways wellness theme, a hot button topic for policymakers; businesses, anglers, residents and tourists alike. The Imaginarium is proud to present Watershed Wonders: Caloosahatchee Connections, an interactive exhibit that illustrates the Florida watershed from Lake Okeechobee to the Gulf of Mexico through the Caloosahatchee. Also new is The Water Table exhibit.
