SRMA’s Inaugural Event Gives Manufacturing The Red Carpet Treatment

Industry leaders, business champions and local dignitaries will be in attendance at The Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association’s (SRMA’s) inaugural “Made in SWFL” trade show, taking place 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 16 at Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers.

Up to 350 Lee County students from the 15 high schools and technical institutes will also enjoy their own special agenda from 9:30-noon, and the public is invited to attend the “Made in SWFL Showcase” between noon and 5 p.m. for free with a business card, $5 without. The day concludes with a red carpet reception and awards banquet to recognize the Manufacturer of the Year and Manufacturing Employee of the Year.

A packed schedule of dynamic presentations from local manufacturing leaders is planned, kicking off with Brian Rist of Smart Industries, the event’s Title Sponsor, speaking on the topic “How and Why to find a job in Manufacturing.” Peter Bagwell of Polygon Solutions will talk on “Innovation, Technology and Upward Mobility.”

At noon the doors will open for the public to view exhibitors’ displays and hear presentations by local leaders and business experts like Mayor Randall Henderson, News Press Publisher Mei Mei Chan, and Steve Roark and Mike Kosinski from Cliff Larson Allen. Neil Bourgeois of The SolidExperts will offer a compelling talk on “3D Printing Rapid Prototyping.”

After being photographed on the red carpet, finalists for 2013 Manufacturer of the Year and Manufacturing Employee of the Year will participate in an elegant reception followed by a gourmet dining experience and awards presentation.

Keynote speaker for the awards dinner will be Dave Power. The President of Power Strategy has guided growth companies as an operating executive, board member and advisor for over 25 years. Power is also a Certified Gazelles International Coach and teaches Strategic Management and Innovation at the Harvard Extension School. Tickets for the awards dinner are still available at $80.
